Administrative & Regulatory Law

We have many years of experience in handling matters before state and federal regulatory agencies. These include the Texas Railroad Commission that regulates the oil and gas, gas utility, and surface mining industries in the State of Texas, the Texas Public Utility Commission, the Texas General Land Office, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, the Texas Legislature, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and others.

Administrative and regulatory law often requires approaches to problem solving that may involve negotiation, drafting of agreements, and litigation, all in the same proceeding or in multiple proceedings. Matters may be relatively small and direct, or massive and complex. We believe that part of our job is to know the difference and work with the client to find and implement the best strategy for each matter. Whether the matter involves applications, permit compliance issues, rule making, or litigation of contested case proceedings, the approach must be guided by the client’s needs.
